Chemical Peels

The Chemical Peel Treatment

Your skin will first be cleansed thoroughly and degreased. The Chemical Peel solution will then be applied to the skin.

With Glycolic Peels a warm, mild prickling sensation is experienced. The solution is left on the skin for between 1 and 3 minutes depending upon the client, before the skin is cooled with cold compresses.

With a TCA Peel the prickling sensation is much more intense. However, the solution is only left on the skin for a few minutes before the neutralising cream is applied.

What Happens After the Treatment?

Your face may be red immediately after the peel.

With a Glycolic Acid Peel the temporary redness, flaking and dryness that you experience should not prevent you from working or engaging in your normal activities.

With a TCA Peel you will experience mild discomfort and swelling similar to mild sunburn for a few days.

After all Chemical Peels you should avoid sun exposure for several weeks and use a good sun protection cream.

How Many Treatments Will Be Needed?

Light and light/medium peels require a course of 4-6 treatments every 2-3 weeks to achieve the optimum results.

There is also a "Spot" Peel may be used as a "one off" treatment to improve pigmentation spots. This may be applied again after one month.

The Innovation Concept Peel

The Innovation Concept Peel is a "one off" treatment mask launched in the U.K. in 2004 for the improvement of pigmented spots including freckles, age spots and pigmented scars. It also helps to improve the appearance of roughened sun damaged skin. It visibly smoothes and softens the skin, and improves and balances irregular skin tones. This is a superficial peel with a medium depth effect, but without the risk, discomfort or down time of a medium peel.

Your skin is carefully cleansed. The mask is then applied and may be left for 2 to 8 hours depending on your skin type and the problem requiring the treatment. After cleansing and removing the mask as directed, your skin will appear a little red. Some mild peeling may occur after a couple of days and the skin should show improvement within 3 to 4 weeks.

Although it is not strictly necessary to prepare the skin for this peel, it is strongly recommended that you use a glycolic acid based cleanser for 2 weeks prior to the peel to obtain the best result. The client MUST follow the post treatment instructions and use the cream provided afterwards. The products necessary for the one month following your treatment come in a patient-ready home-care pack. The after care pack is included in the cost of the treatment.

This Peel may be repeated after one month if necessary.

Who Is Not Suitable For A Chemical Peel?

Chemical Peels are not advisable if you are pregnant or breast feeding or if you have been prescribed Accutane in the past twelve months.

Are There Any Side Effects?

Chemical Peels are normally safe procedures when performed by a qualified practitioner. However, some unpredictable reactions, such as infection and hyperpigmentation, whilst very rare, are possible.
